There is, that a person, decided to tune up his own car, not absolutely represents, what exactly he wishes to make. In this small article I will try to throw light a little on the given question and, whenever possible easier to explain some moments, proceeding from own experience. With what to begin tuning? A sphere of action, you see, the big. It would be desirable to make the car fast, reliable and unlike others. We will begin with dynamics of dispersal. It directly depends, first, on a twisting moment and an engine power, secondly, from selection of drives of a check point. The essential gain of a twisting moment in a zone of low turns can be received, having increased an engine working volume. The maximum power and a twisting moment in a zone of high turns will be provided with a camshaft with the changed characteristics. In other words, on weak engine to receive satisfactory dynamics of dispersal without “promotion” it will not turn out.

What working volume and camshaft to choose? It is possible to make volume 1600 cubic sm, and to take a camshaft not “riding”, i.e. at what degree of a raising of the valve is not so great. Why? Basically, the engine working volume can be increased to 1,7 and even to 1,8 cubic sm, it is possible to buy the experimental 2 liter engine, at last, but cost of such decision is very high, besides, engines 1,7 and 1,8, they do not love high power. Style of driving should be changed on “classical”, in order to avoid premature death of the unit. 1,6 - it is multiple-purpose, it works on all range of turns. (Recollect the motor racing, what volume is used more often?) Motor potential 1,6 at correct assembly is not less regular. A camshaft. Unduly high degree of a raising of the valve will upset stability of idle running, will reduce a twisting moment on “bottoms”, and also will lead to fast deterioration of details GBC (without special training). By the way, about GBC. If the budget allows, it is quite good to make some completions, namely: to change the combustion chamber form, to increase diameter and to change the form of ports, to establish facilitated T-shaped the valve and bronze guide bushes of valves. These operations considerably will improve filling, combustion of a mixture and off take of the fulfilled gases that will in addition increase an engine power. Tuning of final system is expensive enough and gives a small increase on power.

Let’s pass to a change speed gearbox

Correct selection of a complete set improves dispersal, does by its more uniform. What it is necessary to make? It is required to change a number of transfer relations (sometimes together with the main pair) so that there were no “ruptures” between drives (as, for example, between 1st and 2nd on a standard box). Replacement (shortening) of the main pair separately slightly improves dispersal since all drives change proportionally, and relations between them remain former. In tuning and sports rows more often 1st drive is extended or remains standard, the others (all or it is selective) are reduced.

Braking system

For efficiency increase it is necessary to put front ventilated disks big diameter and the vacuum servo with the increased productivity. Installation of rear clasp brakes also gives a positive effect.

Suspender

For road ability improvement it is possible to establish more rigid gas-oil absorbers, springs with a different course of a coil (”progressive”), the front stabilizer of the increased diameter, brackets of extensions or a beam with rigid silent-blocks, plates of a negative camber of rear wheels.

In general, at selection of accessories for tuning it is necessary to consider conditions of the further operation of the car and, whenever possible, to consult to different experts for a finding of the optimal decision.
